About Clearaway Recycling Ltd
Clearaway Recycling is a family-run waste management business based in Basildon. Brothers Ian and Paul founded the company in 2010 after over twenty years in the waste industry, and Paul's three daughters now work in daily operations. The business provides skip hire in sizes from 2 yards to 16 yards, roll-on roll-off skips up to 40 cubic yards, grab hire, van collection services, wheelie bin hire and metal recycling across Essex and parts of East London.
The business operates an advanced waste transfer station with capacity to process over 200,000 tonnes of waste each year. All waste arriving at the facility is weighed and checked before acceptance. Once tipped, loads pass through a large shredder that breaks material into pieces of 450mm or smaller. Picking staff then separate items by hand, targeting larger pieces for recycling. The mechanical sorting phase recovers ferrous and non-ferrous metals, strips electrical wires for reprocessing, segregates plastics from toys to uPVC window frames, grades waste wood for new products or biomass facilities, and crushes bricks and concrete for use in foundations and construction blocks. Light waste is removed by air separator and converted into refuse-derived fuel for energy plants. The business aims to recycle or recover 100% of materials received, with any non-recyclables converted into energy at waste facilities.
