About Towens Waste Management Ltd
Towens Waste Management Ltd is a family-owned waste management and recycling business based in Weston-super-Mare. It has traded for over 30 years and operates four recycling facilities across Somerset and the South-West. The business handles over a million tonnes of waste and recycled aggregates annually, with over 90% of material recycled or reused and only 8% going to landfill.
Towens provides skip hire in sizes from 2 to 12 yards, delivered across Somerset, with standard hire duration of ten days. It operates a waste transfer station with a calibrated 50-tonne weighbridge where customers with a waste carriers licence can tip clean and uncontaminated waste including mixed waste, green waste, inert materials, clean and dirty wood, domestic seating waste, fridges, televisions and mattresses. The business also supplies recycled materials such as scalpings, recycled type one, lime sand, road planings, crushed concrete and screened topsoil.
Additional services include tippers and muck away for aggregate, planings and topsoil delivery, plant hire of excavators, screeners, sweepers and crushers, soil testing, contaminated waste treatment, land remediation, and civils and demolition contracts. The fleet comprises over 40 tippers, artics and skip lorries, all Euro 6 vehicles maintained by the business's own fleet manager and Fleet Services operation. Towens directly employs its drivers and operates from depots across Somerset. Customers range from nuclear power plants to local contractors, builders and homeowners. The weighbridge is open Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 8am to 3pm.
