About Nick Ferris Skip Hire Limited
Nick Ferris Skip Hire Ltd is a family business based in Penryn, Cornwall, started in 1985 by husband and wife Nick and Lyn. It grew from a cottage base and Transit collections to a first skip lorry, the Valley View site in Penryn and a waste transfer station in Herniss. Their son Paul joined in 2000, followed by Samantha in 2008 and Hannah in 2013, and the siblings now hold the roles of General Manager, HR Manager and Transport Manager.
The company runs a fleet of 24 vehicles and a team of over 40 staff, with weighbridge services open to commercial and domestic customers. It offers chain skips and larger roll-on roll-off (RoRo) skips, tipper hire, enclosed lockable skips for confidential waste, aggregates in large and small, loose and bagged loads, and screened topsoil.
Its website describes strong local links throughout Cornwall, with customer relationships that go back decades, and says Nick and Lyn remain closely involved in the day-to-day running of the business while the next generation carries it forward.
