J&B Recycling grew from a small family operation into a recycling and waste management company with five sites, its website says. The Jackson family business started out at Baltic Street in Hartlepool supplying fuel to power stations and steelworks. It hires skips to homes, businesses, schools and local authorities, and says 99% of waste is recycled.

J&B Recycling is a waste management and recycling company in Hartlepool. Its roots go back to the 1970s, when Alan Jackson ran a family solid-fuel business in the town. His daughter, Vikki Jackson-Smith, established J&B Recycling in 1998. It now operates five sites, including two materials recycling facilities in Hartlepool, handles more than 200,000 tonnes of waste and recyclable material each year, and employs almost 200 people. J&B Recycling joined FCC Environment in June 2024.

For businesses across the North East, it collects general waste, dry mixed recycling, glass, food waste and hazardous waste, using bins, skips and other containers. It also provides commercial skip hire and bulk waste collections, balers, front end loaders, electrical waste recycling and single stream recycling of materials such as metals, plastics and cardboard.

Household waste recycling is also part of the work, with kerbside recyclables from local authorities processed at its facilities. The business states a 99% recycling rate.
