Skip size calculator
Pick a job or give a number of bin bags: which skip size should take it, whether heavy waste will hit the weight limit, and when a skip bag or a man and van would cost less.
How many bags fit in each skip
| Skip | Bin bags, roughly |
|---|---|
| Mini skip, 2 yard | 20 to 30 |
| Midi skip, 4 yard | 30 to 40 |
| Builders skip, 6 yard | 50 to 60 |
| Builders skip, 8 yard | 60 to 80 |
| Large skip, 10 yard | 80 to 100 |
| Large skip, 12 yard | 100 to 120 |
How the numbers work
Bag counts are approximate figures from operators' published size guides; awkward items such as doors and timber take more room than bags. The job estimates are rough starting points, not measurements of your job. Firms set their own weight limits, so ask before filling a skip with heavy waste.
